All Cell Technologies

All Cell was co-founded by Said Al-Hallaj, research professor at IIT’s Center for Electrochemical Science and Engineering and Coordinator of Renewable Energy Research Projects and J. Robert Selman, formerly Director of IIT’s Center for Electrochemical Science and Engineering. All Cell’s proprietary PCM technology is an enabling technology that addresses the thermal management problems of rechargeable Li-Ion batteries and removes a barrier to their widespread use in high power applications. This will facilitate the penetration of Lithium-Ion batteries into rapidly growing applications such as hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), fleet electric vehicles and personal transportation (Segway HT, electric scooters). Target customers will include original equipment manufacturer (OEM) equipment suppliers and major cell/battery-pack providers.

Animal Blueprint

Animal Blueprint offers technology and training services to the pet-care industry. With their proprietary software, PRO-TRAINER developed a customer relations management solution, business development tool, and franchise kit for the pet-care industry. There is an additional web-based component to reach end-users through subscription to an online forms repository, referral site, and online university. This site enable improved keeping, organization, and migration of pet and client records as owners move from one service provider to another, and the codification and commercialization of dog-training techniques, thus assisting knowledge transfer and facilitating the entrance of new trainers into this industry. Tying these services into one package is the consumer log-in, www.dogchill.com, where dog-owners go to access records, search for service providers, and network with other dog-owners throughout the country. Animal Blueprint is currently their software in the Chicagoland area, and expects to go on an awareness-raising campaign Spring of 2008.

Cleversafe

Cleversafe is pioneering a massively scalable method for long term data storage called Dispersed StorageTM. Using information dispersal algorithms (IDA) and open source technology, Cleversafe has developed a method of data storage that provides more security, privacy and reliability than copy-based storage at a fraction of the cost. Information dispersal was introduced by mathematicians almost thirty years ago but, until now, has only been used to store highly secure, relatively small pieces of data like cryptographic keys. Cleversafe has developed protocols and built a stable architecture that leverages current broadband and Internet ubiquity to store massive amounts (terabytes to petabytes or more) of data across a dispersed storage grid. Now, information dispersal, which previously existed mostly in academia and in governmental projects, will be available as a commercial solution through Cleversafe Dispersed Storage. Additional information on the company and its offerings is available at either www.cleversafe.com or the company’s open source software development site at www.cleversafe.com.

DigitialDrive Tech, LLC

DigitalDrive Tech is aimed at revolutionizing motor control through a novel approach to modeling and control of electric motors which combines the best features of digital and analog control: flexibility, performance, simplicity, and low cost of implementation. DigitalDrive Tech is formed based on the technology developed in Professor Ali Emadi's research laboratory at IIT, to commercialize a patented digital technological breakthrough in motor drive control that is extremely simple and far less expensive to implement than existing technology. This simple invention can transform standard, ho-hum appliances into “smart,” variable speed appliances that can be controlled by a computer chip—allowing for a plethora of sophisticated new products at a much-lower cost. The cost savings of moving “dumb”
appliances to computerized technology is estimated to be on the magnitude of ten-times cheaper than existing technology—allowing the appliance industry to compete on innovative products.
